TRUCK COMPANY RUNS COMPANY 20 HOUSE FIRE

Friday, December 23, 2011   Truck company 29 was dispatched around 2200 hrs for the house fire after communications filled the box at 4600 Mimsey Rd in company 20 first due. The crew arrived on the scene and went to work throwing ladders and working with tower 33 in the interior opening the house up and checking hot spots.

Units cleared shortly after the fire was knocked.

     



 

TRUCK COMPANY RUNS HOUSE FIRE IN COMPANY 17 FIRST DUE

Thursday, December 22, 2011  Shortly before 0700 hrs. a Box Alarm was sounded for a reported House On Fire in the 4200 blk. of Vine Street, in Boulevard Heights.  First arriving Companies discovered a single story, detached, cape cod dwelling that appeared to be vacant with Smoke Showing.  

Crews were faced with the interior stairs burned out so crews had to go through a window to extinguish the fire. Units returned shortly after.

Monday, November 14, 2011  At 1728 hrs Engine 29 was dispatched to the 3600 blk of Forestville rd. for the buidling fire.  Engine 371 arrived in the area and found smoke coming from a service station.   The engine crew from 37 made their way through the building to find an auto in the service bay.  The crew was able to make quick work of the fire and command scaled back to Engine 37 and Truck 20. 

   


 

TRUCK RUNS CLINTON HOUSE

Friday, November 4, 2011  At 2150 hours Truck Company 29 was alerted for a reported house fire in the 10200 block of Brandywine Rd., Clinton, MD While en route PSC said the caller advised it was going to be across the street from that location. Engine 25 arrived to find a 2 story house with heavy fire showing. The crew from Engine 25 pulled a 1 3/4" attack line to the second floor and extinguished the fire. Truck Co.29 arrived and assisted in ventilation and checking for extension. Units operated on scene for about 4 hrs.

TRUCK RUNS BUILDING FIRE

Wednesday, November 2, 2011  On November 2, Truck Company 29 was alerted for smoke coming from the building in the area of Old Branch Ave. and Coventry Way.

First arriving Chief 25 discovered a single story, commercial, garage with Smoke and Fire Showing from Side-Alpha. Once the truck arrived on the and helped get the building opened up companies located two autos on fire inside of the building that eventually extended to some of the interior of the building.  The bulk of the fire was quickly knocked down and the effort of opening up the autos and the building's interior began.  With the incident under control the assignment was scaled back to Engine Companies 25, 27 and Truck Companies 29 and 32.  

 

   


 

Annual Open House

Saturday, October 22, 2011     On Saturday, October 22, 2011, the members, officers, and auxiliary of the Silver Hill VFD opened their doors from 11am to 4pm for their Annual Open House during National Fire Prevention Week. The day included blood pressure checks, fire prevention and training displays, fire house tours, games, and food & beverages prepared and provided by our generous Ladies Auxiliary.


     



 

47 HOUSE FIRE

Tuesday, October 18, 2011    Just after 12:30 pm, Tuesday, October 18, 2011,Truck 829 was alerted to a house fire in the 12200 block of Fort Washington Road. Engine 847 arrived quickly and encountered a 2-story single family home with heavy fire coming from an attached garage. The fire eventually extended into the home itself before crews were able to extinguish it. It take crews about 20 minutes to extinguish the fire. The fire also damaged a vehicle and a boat that were being stored outside of the garage.




     



 

TRUCK RUNS 32 HOUSE FIRE

Monday, October 17, 2011  Just after 14:30 pm, Monday, October 17, 2011, Truck 29 was alerted to a house fire in the 7400 block of Webster Ln. Engine 832 arrived quickly and encountered a 1-story single family home with heavy fire coming from the house. Crews went to exterior operations before firefighters were able to go in and knock the rest of it down.

Command held the truck for awhile while crews did exstensive overhaul.

     



 

TRUCK SECOND DUE ON 47 BASEMENT

Sunday, October 9, 2011  Just after midnight, units were alerted to the 13300 BLK of Ft. Washington Road (Co. 47's area) for the report of a house fire, bringing T829 (second due truck) to the scene.  E847 AOS to find a two story single family dwelling with smoke showing.  E847 took the stairs and located a small fire in the basement with some extension. With TW821 being understaffed with 2 personnel, BC885 moved T829 up assist TW21 with first due responsibilities.  Units checked for extension and cleared within about an hour.

     



 

ENGINE AND TRUCK ON 17 APARTMENT

Friday, October 7, 2011  Just after 1830 hrs., units were alerted to the 3900 BLK of Stone Gate Drive (Co. 17's first due) for the report of an apartment fire, bringing E829 (third due engine) and T829 (first due truck) to the scene.  E817 AOS to find a two stroy garden style apartment with smoke showing.  29 units arrived right behind 17 and went to work.  Units from 17, 26, and 29 made entry and located a fire in the front of the apartment crawling across the ceiling.  Quick work contained the fire to the one apartment.  Units from 17 and T829 remained on scene for about an hour before returning to service.
