Monday, January 18, 2010 - After a long day of just ambulance calls, Communications sounded at 1452 hours for smoke in the house at 6401 Auth Rd in company 27s area, bringing Engines 827, 823, 825, 829, Trucks 825, 829, and Squad 827. Engine 827 arrived on the scene and advised they had smoke showing, engine 827 made it in the house and advised command that they had a working basement fire and that they had made the stairs, engine 829 was forth due arrived second due along with the truck arriving right in front them, the engine laid out and had engine 825 pick up the supply line and engine829 pulled a line off of engine 827. Command advised us to take the line around the rear and work with engine 827 on the fire in the basement. Due to engine 827 making the stairs command had us hold up at the door while company 27 made a knock on the fire.
The truck split up in two crews and one crew went in to help with search and rescue, utilities, and overhaul. The other crew threw ladders and took out some windows. Once the fire was knocked command held 27, 29, and 25 for awhile to make sure the fire was out because the fire had gotten between the wood floors above the fire room.
On a special note, All the companies in the 3rd and Co. 25 except Co. 26 were all volunteer at the time. Great job by all the companies.
